About Langdon
Langdon is a Jewish Charity, an ambitious, forward-thinking organisation supporting adults and young people with learning disabilities and autism to live independent lives through supported living, education, employment support and social activities. We support people in the Jewish Community in both London and Manchester enabling those to thrive and have equal opportunities and empowering them to live their very best lives and be their best, true selves.
What will you be doing?
The objective of the role is to phone a Member on a weekly basis to chat, provide social companionship and to alleviate loneliness. You will demonstrate excellent listening skills and reliability.
The roles includes:
- A 30–45-minute phone call once a week to chat to one of our Members.
- Establishing and building a befriending relationship.
- Allowing the Member to discuss topics of their choice.
- Being able to provide support over the phone for the Member within boundaries.
- Weekly commitment to provide stability for our Members.
- Encourage conversations of mutual interest and maintaining flow of conversation.
- An understanding of the importance of safeguarding and maintaining client confidentiality.

- You have excellent interpersonal skills including active listening, and communication.
- You are understanding, patient and empathetic.
- You have the desire to support others.
