Langdon is a Jewish Charity, an ambitious, forward-thinking organisation supporting adults and young people with learning disabilities and autism to live independent lives through supported living, education, employment support and social activities. We support people in the Jewish Community in both London and Manchester enabling those to thrive and have equal opportunities and empowering them to live their very best lives and be their best, true selves.

What will you be doing? 

We are seeking a creative and enthusiastic Arts and Crafts Volunteer to join our team on Wednesdays from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM to lead our art sessions. The volunteer will play a vital role in providing engaging and therapeutic arts and crafts activities for participants, fostering self-expression, creativity, and a sense of accomplishment.

The role includes:

  • Set up the crafting area and gather necessary materials before each session.
  • Welcome and interact with participants in a friendly and inclusive manner, creating an atmosphere of positivity and encouragement.
  • Assist participants with various arts and crafts projects, offering guidance and support while allowing them to explore their creativity.
  • Adapt and tailor crafting activities to accommodate participants’ abilities, preferences, and interests.
  • Demonstrate different crafting techniques, such as painting, drawing, collage, and other hands-on activities.
  • Encourage participants to express themselves through their artwork and help them overcome any challenges they may encounter.
  • Foster a sense of community and social interaction among participants by facilitating group discussions and sharing sessions during crafting.
  • Maintain a clean and organized crafting area, ensuring the safety of participants and the proper use of materials.
  • Provide feedback and suggestions for future sessions and activity improvements.
What are we looking for?
  • Passion for arts and crafts and the therapeutic benefits of creative expression.
  • Creativity and ability to design and lead engaging crafting activities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to connect with individuals of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
  • Patience, empathy, and a compassionate approach when working with participants facing emotional, cognitive, or physical challenges.
  • Reliable and punctual, committed to a consistent weekly schedule.
  • Prior experience in crafting, art education, or working with vulnerable populations is a plus but not required.
