About Langdon

Langdon is a Jewish Charity, an ambitious, forward-thinking organisation supporting adults and young people with learning disabilities and autism to live independent lives through supported living, education, employment support and social activities. We support people in the Jewish Community in both London and Manchester enabling those to thrive and have equal opportunities and empowering them to live their very best lives and be their best, true selves.

What will you be doing? 

If you enjoy gardening as well as doing something for your local community then this could be perfect for you! We are looking for volunteers who are happy to spend some time helping our members maintain our garden – No need to be an expert but just a love of gardening!

The role includes:

• General gardening tasks such as planting, weeding, watering, potting etc.
• Working collaboratively with other volunteers and Members.
• Build a positive relationship with the Member/s you will be supporting.
• Weekly commitment to ensure stability for our members.
• Sometimes you will be volunteering directly with Members but it is also appreciated if you would like to come in to help maintain the garden when Members aren’t there.
• Promoting and adhering to the workplace values: Excellence, Responsive, Integrity, Caring and Empowering.

What are we looking for?

• You are passionate about gardening.
• Knowledge about gardening would be amazing but definitely not essential.
• Willingness to ‘muck-in’ with a team.
• You are a good communicator when it comes to others who experience the world differently.
• Be reliable and trustworthy.
• Have a caring and non-judgmental approach.
• You have excellent interpersonal skills including empathy, active listening, and communication.
• You have experience working with people with learning disabilities (not essential).
