At Langdon we support hundreds of adults and young people with learning disabilities and autism by empowering our Members to live their best lives independently and be their best selves. This is something we call Livingness and it is the essence of what we provide for all our Members and their families.
Livingness is enabled through our five key areas of support provision: supported living, education, employment, community and youth services (Langdon Brady).
This year we needed to raise £1 million to deepen and diversify our offering and extend the range of life opportunities for our Members to offer them a greater choice, and a voice, on what they want to do and how they wish to live their lives. For the first time, from 10am on Sunday 10th October to 10pm on Monday 11th October, Langdon launched its biggest online fundraising campaign, Livingness Live! to raise £1 million in 36 hours. Every donation made was matched by generous Langdon philanthropists and Patrons and we are thrilled to announce we reached, and surpassed, our target raising an incredible £1,040,000 with all donations helping to ensure Members have the same opportunities as the rest of society, and to be active and engaged members of the local community.
This is Claudia’s Story
Claudia grew up in Glasgow but struggled with no outside help and no friends, often being told she couldn’t do the things she wanted.
At the age of 24, Claudia moved into Langdon supported living in Manchester where all the help she receives gives her the confidence and independence to do things for herself and a sense of freedom by being encouraged to make her own choices. Her favourite part of living in Manchester is having a Jewish life as when she lived in Glasgow there was ‘next to nothing’ for people her age. She now enjoys a busy social life and loves always having someone there to talk to if she needs help and helping others when they need her support.
You can still help enable Livingness for Members like Claudia by donating to our Livingness Live! campaign and help us reach our bonus goal of £1.1 million by visiting Donate – Langdon (langdonuk.org).
A huge thank you for all your support in making this possible!
Kisharon and Langdon are merging. The newly formed charity, Kisharon Langdon, will offer a wider breadth of services of enhanced quality, enabling us to better support people with learning disabilities and autism and their families. The organisation remains dedicated to meeting unique religious and cultural needs, fostering an inclusive environment.
