Livingness

At Langdon, we support hundreds of adults and young people with learning disabilities and autism across the UK, by empowering our Members to live their very best lives independently and be their best, true selves.
This is something that we call livingness. We haven’t always referred to it that way, but livingness is the absolute essence of what we provide for our Members and their families.
For many of our Members, livingness means being able to celebrate Jewish festivals in their very own homes. Doing so provides them with an enormous sense of pride and accomplishment.
At Passover, we commemorate our freedom from slavery. The pandemic has meant that for everyone’s safety, our usual freedoms have been curtailed and we have had to adapt in order to still live as fulfilled lives as possible.
For Claudia and Naomi, livingness is epitomised by being able to express their Judaism in whatever way they choose – preparing and hosting Seders, Shabbat dinners and Sukkot celebrations. Langdon enables livingness like this every day.
“My Judaism is so important to me, and I am so grateful that with Langdon’s support, I’m not only able to express and celebrate it in the way I want, but I can also share my knowledge with others within Langdon.”
– Naomi
“Pesach is very important to me and I always observe it. Living at Langdon allows me to live as independently as possible and I am supported to enjoy my culture and embrace Judaism.”
– Claudia
