We know that having friends and taking part in social activities is a vital part of developing greater independence and living an enjoyable and full life. We offer a wide range of interesting, educational and accessible social events and activities so that members can learn new skills, make new friends and become part of the community both inside and outside Langdon. We also empower and encourage our members to create and host their own activities and social occasions, promoting peer support and building personal networks.
Maccabi House is Langdon’s drop in community centre, which opened Spring 2012. Ideally located in Edgware, at the heart of Langdon’s London housing network, it is easily accessible and a safe space for our members to meet people.
Designed to be the social hub for our members and their friends, Maccabi House is also home to the majority of Langdon’s Activity Programme.
Each year, Langdon members are offered a choice of holidays to go on which range from UK-based breaks to holidays abroad.
Trips are fully supported by the appropriate number of staff to ensure safe and enjoyable holidays for all.
Langdon’s international exchange programme gives our young people the opportunity to experience living and working overseas to broaden their horizons and develop their skills and knowledge.
We have seen programme participants grow in confidence and become more independent because of these experiences.
Over the years, we have developed links with organisations similar to ourselves in Israel, the US and Canada; the programme has proved extremely successful. The strong relationships we have built with our partner organisations have led to the sharing of best practice as well as numerous opportunities to work collaboratively on common issues.
