We know that having friends and taking part in social activities is a vital part of developing greater independence and living an enjoyable and full life. We offer a wide range of interesting, educational and accessible social events and activities so that members can learn new skills, make new friends and become part of the community both inside and outside Langdon. We also empower and encourage our members to create and host their own activities and social occasions, promoting peer support and building personal networks.
Maccabi House is Langdon’s drop in community centre, which opened Spring 2012. Ideally located in Edgware, at the heart of Langdon’s London housing network, it is easily accessible and a safe space for our members to meet people.
Designed to be the social hub for our members and their friends, Maccabi House is also home to the majority Langdon’s Activity Programme.
Each year, Langdon members are offered a choice of holidays to go on that range from UK based breaks to holidays abroad.
Trips are fully supported by appropriate levels of staffing to ensure safe and enjoyable holidays for all.
Langdon’s international exchange programme gives our young people the opportunity to experience living and working overseas to broaden their horizons and develop their skills and knowledge.
We have seen programme participants grow in confidence and become more independent because of their experiences.
Over the years, we have developed links with similar organisations to our own in Israel, the US and Canada and the programme has proved extremely successful. The strong relationships we have built with our partner organisations have led to us sharing best practice and working collaboratively on common issues.
