VOLUNTEER – MENTORING

Langdon members are attending a training course for public speaking to improve their communication skills, raise confidence and find better life opportunities.The course is over 10 lessons, ONCE A MONTH starting in January 2018.

To progress, members will need a mentor during their lessons finishing with a public speech at the end in an exclusive venue. As well as building a relationship, mentors will have the opportunity to learn public speaking skills.

The required skills are:
• To be able to build up a relationship of mutual trust and respect
• To be reliable and dependable
• To have the ability to listen, encourage, show empathy and be supportive
• To be able to deal with any challenges which arise

Training and supervision will be provided. The course will run 10 sessions one Sunday a month. Please contact elie.levy@langdonuk.org if you would like further information.

SUPPORT WORKERS 

Previous experience of working in a care environment with adults with learning disabilities and/or mental health issues would be desirable but not essential.  Training will be given to successful candidates.

VOLUNTEER – SOCIAL ACTIVITY

Are you available for a social activity with a Langdon resident? From a coffee, a walk, cooking, bowling or rock climbing! This is a wonderful opportunity for a 1:1 friendship and making a big difference in the life of a vulnerable adult.

VOLUNTEER – SUPPORT IN A PRIMARY SCHOOL

A volunteer is need to support a Langdon member who reads to children in a primary school. This is on Friday afternoons for 90 minutes, the member needs support in the class room as well as helping with arranging events.
